Prayers of the People Advent 4 — Year A

Prayers of the People

Advent 4 — Year A

Let us pray for the Church and for the world.

For the Church throughout the world, that, like Joseph, we may listen for your voice in the midst of uncertainty, trust your promises, and bear Christ faithfully into the life of the world.

Come, Lord Jesus,

hear our prayer.

For this nation and for all nations; for those who govern and those who serve the common good, that justice may be tempered with mercy, fear dispelled by wisdom, and public life shaped by humility and care for the most vulnerable.

Come, Lord Jesus,

hear our prayer.

For those whose lives are unsettled by change, difficult decisions, or hidden burdens; for those who must act with courage before clarity comes; and for all who seek to do what is right at great personal cost.

Come, Lord Jesus,

hear our prayer.

For the poor, the displaced, and those who live with insecurity or fear; for families under strain; and for all who long for shelter, safety, and a future marked by hope.

Come, Lord Jesus,

hear our prayer.

For the sick, the anxious, and the weary; for those who feel forgotten or alone; and for any who await healing of body, mind, or spirit.

Come, Lord Jesus,

hear our prayer.

For those who have died, and for those who mourn, that they may know the consolation of your presence and the promise that you are God-with-us, even in death.

Come, Lord Jesus,

hear our prayer.

Silence.

Celebrant concludes

Gracious God, you chose to enter the world not with power but with trust and obedience: receive these prayers and prepare us to welcome your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Amen.
