The Eve of the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord
Have a blessed Holy Day! Many of you will be celebrating a vigil of this great feast day. I plan to attend the early Eucharist at the children's pageant this evening. I hope to see some of you there.
Because you asked: I must tell you that I have no real news concerning my health. Later in the week I should get the results of the tests from last week. No word yet. I do know that my optic nerves are still swollen. They are swollen (a) because it takes time for the swelling to go down or (b) because I still have inter-cranial pressure that is too high. The CT scan should give us a clue as to the correct answer.
I am so very grateful to be celebrating Christmas with my family and friends and to be returning to full health. I could not ask for a better present!

A Grace Filled Fourth Sunday of Advent to All
I did not attend worship services today. I fear I am still recovering from the Ordination service on Friday evening and my Son's Birthday celebration on Saturday. I hope to be with everyone on Christmas Eve! But for today, God bless all of you on this the Fourth Sunday of Advent.

More Rides Needed
One docs appointment turns into more. I have to be back at Baptist Hospital East tommorow at 2:20 p.m. Anyone available to give me a lift?
A great big THANK YOU to Carlile Crutcher for giving me a lift today.
Health News. Optic nerves are still swollen. I had to go to Suburban Hospital and have some pictures taken. I have to go to Baptist East tommorow and have a CT of the head. Oh, well. Just goes to show you that you can't always go by how you feel, because I continue to feel better each day.
Chas.

Perking Along
I vested for the Saturday evening worship service. The first time I have been in vestments since July 22.
I did not, as I had hoped, vest for the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. services. I missed the 8 entirely and sat in a pew in the back for the 10. but my "experiment" was successful in that I know my current "energy level." I am better, but I am not yet "back."
I certainly could push myself and do more, but that probably would not be good for my long term recovery. So, I am trying to listen to my body.
I do believe the shunt is working and will return me to normal in short order.
I still, however, have not found a local neurosurgeon to take me as a patient. But I have not yet given up looking.

Heat Pump Works, but....
Well, the fact that I didn't have heat on the second floor turned out to be no big deal. Easy fix. Now, if it turns cold I will not freeze. I count that a victory.
On other fronts, however, not so good news. The neurosurgeon who performed my biopsy will not do my post-op checks for my shunt. Says I should go back to Rochester for those. I am not happy.

Back from the internist
My post-surgical infection (staf) is getting better the doc says. Now if I can get the HVAC at home to work on the second floor....its always something.

Got to Church Again
I was able to attend services at St. Mark's again today. It was good to be in church. I have to go to the internist again to check on my infection. The office called on Friday with lab results they didn't like. With that said, I feel better than I have. I talked Mayo into letting do post-op in Louisville--if I can find a doc who will do it. I called the doc who did my brain biopsy. He should telephone me back on Monday. Hopefully, I will not have to make another trip to Rochester.

Visit to the Internist
Had my first post-op doc visit yesterday. Results: (1) abdomen incision is infected (I am now on antibiotics), (2) Internist wants me to go back to Mayo for post-op check. I had hoped to do all post-op medical checks locally and not have to make another trip. But my internist in Louisville was emphatic. Oh, well. Got to call Mayo today.
